Why? The same reason South Africa put on a media blitz during apartheid.

When your country gets worldwide news for atrocities it is committing, leadership in those countries will do anything to change public opinion. (Except stop committing atrocities, I suppose.)

Qatar sponsored river to the sea-prople have actually tried to take over several countries were they where accepted as refugees and guests. Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon and now france and england.
