Can I get insurance for company renting humanoids for parties?

It feels like an daunting and impossible task to find insurance for a company trying to rent humanoids for events and parties. How in the world are Neos and Telsa Optimus going to get insurance coverage if they are inside a home?

Are they just big players so they can get hold of risk underwriters and get them to approve it. But a small company that is trying to build rent robots for parties or conduct educational workshops using humanoids cannot get even general liability.

Quite a few successful businesses have their origin story in the founders starting business A, running into some annoying problem, then starting business B to solve that problem.

What about app Thimble? I used it to get a 2 day policy to take my LED globe and viewing portal to an earth day festival. It's not a robot but it's fancy electronics and the event required a policy.

If you make robots then you are probably looking at product liability insurance, not general liability insurance…though a robotmaker would usually have that too for general liability.

But I am not an insurance agent.

I'm not looking for manufacturer. I bought robots from a manufacturer and I have build some custom apps like adding a voice agent for Halloween. i also have simplified some devtooling for RL. I have some universities asking me to showcase the bots and sample apps in their AI innovation centers so that students get exposure to programming robots.

But for me to go on the campus with robots they want me to carry 2M in general liability. When I speak to insurance providers they are putting in a category that is not insurable by the common home, auto and small biz insurance.

I think, not that I know, that they are expecting YOU, not your robots to have the liability insurance. If they go crazy, I think it is you they sue. Not the robots.

General liability umbrella policy for $1-$5MM is like $1-5k / year.

the insurance industry is robophobic. they don't understand the fn difference between T800 robot in a boxing ring and a kid sized booster K1.

If you can’t get insurance for a business at a cost effective price, the business idea is probably not viable.

It’s not just me that has this business idea. What about companies like Tau Robotics, they are to tele-operate robots. BTW I saw their general liability clause for in service agreement:

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by California law:

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of a cleaning is limited to $2,500.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of use.

What this does not limit. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for willful injury, or for anything else that cannot be limited under California Civil Code §1668 or other applicable law.

Apple makes phones.

That does not imply that my idea to make phones is viable.

Likewise all that contract language is only relevant to the extent their lawyers can beat a plaintiff’s lawyers.

And that is mostly a function of the piles of money available for paying lawyers.
